Sponsorship Focused on Involving Youth in the Outdoors
St. Paul, Minn. - September 28, 2005 - Pheasants Forever (PF) is proud to announce that Cabela's has joined PF as a national corporate partner. As part of the new partnership, Cabela's is sponsoring a Red Ryder BB gun in PF's banquet package and supporting PF's efforts to involve more youths in our hunting heritage.
Cabela's also is sponsoring artist Sam Timm's "Country Crossings" print in this year's banquet package. The company will also continue to work with local PF chapters as those chapters raise and expend funds on local wildlife habitat and conservation education projects. Cabela's has been a long-time PF supporter and was the title sponsor of PF's Pheasant Fest in Omaha, Nebraska this past January. Pheasant Fest was attended by more than 24,000 people, making it the largest PF event ever held.
"We had a tremendous turn-out at Pheasant Fest and met lots of great Pheasants Forever members," said Dennis Highby, president and CEO of Cabela's. "Our experience at Pheasant Fest, along with our history of working with local PF chapters and Cabela's dedication to conservation made extending our partnership with Pheasants Forever a natural fit."
"We are very happy to welcome Cabela's into a more formal partnership with PF," said Howard Vincent, PF's president and CEO. "The people at Cabela's have a dedication to the future of our hunting heritage and they have really stepped forward to help Pheasants Forever in our efforts to ensure that future through education and conservation."
"The sponsorship of Pheasants Forever, and specifically the Red Ryder BB gun, is a symbol of our dedication to helping recruit the next generation of young hunter-conservationists," said Highby. "From wetlands to grasslands, national forests to wildlife refuges, hunters have always gotten the job done for wildlife and our natural resources, and we want to foster that in future generations."
Pheasants Forever is a non-profit conservation organization dedicated to the protection and enhancement of pheasant and other wildlife populations in North America through habitat improvement, land management, public awareness, and education. Such efforts benefit landowners and wildlife alike. Pheasants Forever has more than 110,000 members in over 600 local chapters across the continent.
