Tucson, Arizona - Safari Club International will introduce a new record book at the 2008 Convention. The Alternative Methods Record Book will recognize all hunters who have taken an animal with a bow, handgun or muzzleloader. It will include entries from 752 species and hunts from more than 4,500 individual hunters.

SCI Record Books have been of great value to hunters for research purposes. Hunters can glean information from them, such as the distribution of wildlife, the top outfitters and guides, and the criteria for a trophy animal.

SCI's record books provide complete taxonomic information on each species, animal description, maps and distribution of the variety of species, hunters' names, where the animal was taken, the outfitter or guides' name, and key measurements - such as circumference at the base of the antler or horn, main beam length or horn length and tine lengths. The record books also provide a ranking for species to assist hunters in field judging.

The deadline for submitting entries for this SCI members-only record book is Wednesday, January 31, 2007 by 5:00pm MST.

Questions about the upcoming Alternative Method Record Book, and entries to be considered should be directed to Safari Club International, attention Trophy Records, 4800 W. Gates Pass Rd., Tucson, Arizona 85745 or call (520) 620-1220.
